Kindergarten Registration for the 2018-19 School Year
If you applied for Kindergarten by the January 19 deadline you’ll get your kindergarten offer letter in March 2018. If you submitted a late application, you will get a kindergarten offer by mid-June. If you applied late, you will be added to the waitlist for all schools listed on your application. Schools will contact you directly if they can offer you a kindergarten seat. All children are guaranteed a kindergarten seat for the fall.
Upon receiving your offer letter, you can call or email (20K185@schools.nyc.gov)the school to make an appointment to register.
In order to register your child, you must have the following with you:
- the CHILD whom you are registering
- the child’s **BIRTH CERTIFICATE**
- the child’s IMMUNIZATION RECORD (*must be up-to-date with vaccines to attend school*). Children will be excluded from attending school if their vaccines are not up-to-date by September 2018. See here for immunization requirements:
- TWO PROOFS OF ADDRESS – must reside in our school zone (see below for acceptable proofs and zone info)
You must have all of the above information in order to register – we cannot register a student who is missing any documents. Please bring the originals and a copy for us to keep. Be advised that photo ID is required at all times to enter our school building.
In order to save time, you can print out the registration packet and bring it to registration completed. The medical form should be brought to your child’s pediatrician and returned to school in September. (immunization record is still required for registration)
NYC DOE Guidelines for Outdoor Play in Cold Weather
Children benefit from vigorous exercise and should be given the opportunity to play outside whenever possible. Unless it is snowing, or there is ice on the playground, or the wind-chill factor is below zero degrees Fahrenheit (-18 degrees Celsius), temperature alone should not preclude outdoor play. Please be sure that your child is appropriately dressed on very cold days by wearing warm clothing, and using multiple layers to maintain warmth.
